Constitution defeats HMS Guerriere, a significant event during the war;

The death of Tecumseh at Moraviantown;

Isaac Brock mortally wounded  spurs troops on at the Queenston Heights;
Andrew Jackson leads the defence of New Orleans.
You will recognize the first stanza, but absent the tune would you recognize the complete Star Spangled Banner

  O say! can you see, by the dawn's early light,
  What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?
  Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,
  O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
  And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
  Gave proof thro' the night, that our flag was still there.
  O say! does that Star-Spangled Banner yet wave
  O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

  On the shore, dimly seen thro' the mist of the deep,
   Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
  What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
  As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
  Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
  In full glory reflected now shines in the stream.
 'Tis the Star-Spangled Banner.  O long may it wave
  O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

  And where is that band who so vauntingly swore,
  That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
  A home and a country should leave us no more?
  Their blood has wash'd out their foul footstep's pollution.
  No refuge could save the hireling and slave
  From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave,
  And the Star-Spangled Banner in triumph doth wave
  O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

  O thus be it ever when freemen shall stand
  Between their lov'd home and war's desolation,
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the Heav'n-rescued land
  Praise the pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
  And this be our motto, "In God is our Trust."
And the Star-Spangled Banner in triumph shall wave
  O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

A war Story - page 21

2,000 brave soldiers of World War II are dying every day.   Maybe this will help us be reminded of something we still have time to do for those who are left.
GOD BLESS EVERY veteran ........ and THANK YOU veterans who may see this!

I have just been introduced to the Marine Prayer:   Lord, make me fast and accurate, let my aim be true and my hand faster than those who would seek to destroy me.  Grant me victory over my foes and those that wish to do harm to me and mine.  Let not my last thought be "If only I had my gun."  And Lord, if today is truly the day that you call me home,  LET ME DIE IN A PILE OF BRASS  -------------

Do you ever wonder why we gave a damn?  Keeping idiots safe so they can puke all over America?

Pardon Request:

There are a number of our Troops in Levenworth because of the political hacks in the pentagon.  Man does his job and then is second guessed by some desk jocky after the battle.  Rules of engagement are such that a Trooper has to be shot at gefore he can return fire and God forbid he hit a civilian.

This was forwarded by a USN Hospital Corpsman who served on a Destroyer and a Submarine in the Atlantic Fleet 1947-1951.  It makes me think of shipmates long ago plus other soldiers, sailors & marines, both then and now, who put their lives on the line for this great nation.  God bless America,   Bob Ford (HM3 --1947-51)  --  USS Bordelon (DDR-881)  --  USS Runner (SS-476
